University of Southampton (logo)

As a University, we are embarking on a series of high-profile lectures, delivered by leading speakers to top level industry professionals and research councils. This is to demonstrate the crucial connection our research has in solving society’s biggest health challenges, including public healthcare, neuroscience, global maternal health, genomics and cancer.

These lectures will be public facing but will primarily be aimed at targeted sectors of the public, partner organisations and key influencers as well as alumni and donors (and could include students in related fields) and aim to contribute to the public debate on these key topics.

We have proven that we can attract high-profile speakers and put on events of the highest calibre, most notably the Web Science event at the Royal Society in June 2014, which had a panel of speakers of international repute and made great connections for the University and positioned us as a global player.  By holding a series of lectures annually on a related theme, we hope to build upon that success.
