Sir Christopher discussed the recently-announced £300m bond and brief plans for the money, as well as addressing the Teaching Excellence Framework, Brexit, student experience, poor performance, funding and building plans across campus.

At the end of his presentation, Sir Christopher said:

“We now have to work together to deliver the strategy, and reap the rewards and the recognition we deserve as a truly world-class university.

“We need to keep to the strategy, and avoid being distracted, as we deal with the inevitable problems that will arise as we go forward. As I said in my first address here at Southampton, this is a fantastic university, and we have the capability to truly excel – not only in the UK, but internationally. So let’s get on, and do it now.”
