The University flew the rainbow flag in support of Southampton Pride, which took place on Saturday 26 August.
In its second year, the event brought organisations from across the city together to demonstrate their support for LGBT+ equality, diversity and inclusivity.
The family-friendly event took place in Guildhall Square, and featured live music across two stages, as well as entertainment, a craft fair and a parade.
The day was considered a huge success with thousands of people in attendance, making the event twice as big as last year.
The University’s Pulse LGBT+ Staff Network took part in the festivities, welcoming all friends and colleagues to take part. The Network had the largest group in the parade, with over 80 friends, family and colleagues joining in, as well as the largest rainbow flag.
James Allen, Chair Designate of the Pulse LGBT+ Staff Network, said:
The atmosphere at Southampton Pride was incredible. The city came alive with colour and there were lots of smiling faces and a relaxed party vibe.
We helped turn Southampton into a safe, inclusive place for families, where every person showed respect and care for each other, and where everyone could be themselves.
