Our Graduate Ambassadors
The Graduate Ambassador programme matches recent University Southampton graduates with volunteering activities across the University community. Graduate Ambassadors share their authentic story with students through activities like career talks, workshops, and mentoring. The volunteering programme gives our Graduate Ambassador the opportunity to stay connected with the University whilst receiving bespoke skills and career support. The year’s cohort includes over 22 UK based Graduate Ambassadors from a range of degree subjects and backgrounds, all of whom are recent graduates and are located in a commutable distance to Southampton. We are also proud to introduce our first cohort of 13 Graduate Ambassadors for China, who will support engagement activities with both current and prospective students.

I am a drone regulatory specialist for a company who design, build and operate large UAVs both within the UK and internationally. I work with national aviation authorities to develop new airspace and apply for permissions to fly.

During my time at university, I proudly represented my university as a Student Ambassador and Accounting & Finance Course Representative, participated in UBC and Women in Business, won the TDP with Holly Street, and studied abroad in Barcelona and Toulouse. Since graduating, I have continued to work at the University of Southampton across different roles. I currently work within the Faculty of Medicine on a variety of research projects in the UK and Ghana. Covering different areas of public health including prison health, food security and nutrition, and climate change, the overlapping theme of my research between them all is women’s health and experiences and how we can reduce the gap in health outcomes between genders. As part of my role in working in partnership with local collaborators and disseminating my research, this involves travelling to Ghana and other places to spread the word about our findings and amplify the voices of under-served communities. During my time at Southampton, I was heavily involved in Union Southampton Dance and the various dance societies within USD, competing with the Advanced Tap team and being part of the Tap committee for a number of years.

I am now working as a Philanthropy Executive at the Natural History Museum in London. My role is to support the Museum’s Patrons Circle and work with people who are interested in supporting our current fundraising campaign, NHM150. This role allows me to continue to develop my fundraising skills and aligns with my passion to protect our natural world.
Studying human geography at university gave me a strong foundation in understanding the environmental crisis. I am passionate about people, the planet and integrating nature restoration into our daily lives. I was also president of ‘GeogSoc’ in my 2nd year of study. It was really enjoyable organising a wide range of events for geography students!

Technical Administrator for the University of Southampton Human Tissue Bank, supporting inventory reconciliation and laboratory processes such as DNA extraction and blood processing. Before my current role, I worked as a Laboratory Technician for the Clinical Neurosciences also at the University, where I used Immunohistochemistry techniques to investigate different target proteins. During my time as a student, I’ve been on the committee for the Biological Sciences Society (BioSoc) for 3 years, as Treasurer, Vice-President and President, and also for sport clubs: Figure Skating and Touch Rugby, which I continued playing after I graduated.

I started working for the University of Southampton right after graduation, first as an Accommodation Support Advisor and now as a Business Analyst and Project Manager. I work on digital transformation projects, and my role involves working with stakeholders all over the university, from students to academics to directors, to better understand how to improve their digital experience. Whilst I was a student here, two of my favorite things were being a part of cultural societies, such as the Indian and Sri Lankan Societies, and working at university open days and events as a student ambassador. I’m excited that I still get to contribute to the university community in my working life.

After graduating from my marine biology degree, I began working as a laboratory technician for the biology teaching labs at the University of Southampton. I was initially on a short term cover contract but was later made a permanent member of staff. During my time at the University of Southampton I was apart of the following societies: Hillwalking (committee roles welfare23-24, social sec22-23, and adventure sec23-24), Toastrack bus – run by the engineering department (admin since 2023 and still involved), Tea soc, Wildlife soc, Steampunk soc (still involved as alumni), Mountaineering and Folk music society.

I provide scientific advice and conduct failure investigations to improve the safety and reliability of aircraft and their components. As part of my studies I developed a small joint simulator for the mechanical verification of a novel form of medical device. Whilst studying at Southampton, I was heavily involved in the Human Powered Aircraft, Renewable Engineering, and Canoe Polo societies. I was also an active participant in the University’s Reading Buddy scheme which it runs in partnership with local schools for three years.

My first full-time role after graduating was in the property development industry before I moved into financial services, where I now work in compliance. My role involves investigating complaints, reviewing communications and advising on regulatory matters. I have attained my Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning and continue to undertake further professional studies alongside my work.
During my time at the University of Southampton, I was a student ambassador and supported various outreach programmes. Now, as a graduate ambassador, I return to share my journey and encourage students to make the most of the opportunities available during their time at university.

For over three years, my role has involved enhancing a software development kit using C programming to configure and control functional monitoring modules within embedded system-on-chips. I previously completed a 12-month industrial placement with Tessent Embedded Analytics (formerly known as UltraSoC) while they sponsored my UK Electronics Skills Foundation (UKESF) Scholarship. At university, I took part in many different societies including piloting a glider for over 2 hours with the Gliding Society, taking care of the on-campus beehives with the Beekeeping Society, projecting films for Union Films, taking dance classes with Kpop Society, and organising public STEM lectures with Pint of Science! Since graduating in 2022, I continue returning to the University of Southampton for events like the UKESF’s “Girls into Electronics” STEM outreach workshops, the annual Student Robotics competition, and Southampton’s Science and Engineering Festival (SOTSEF) where I showcase the University’s 1929 “Toastrack” charabanc, which I’ve maintained, rebuilt, and driven as part of Southampton University’s Engineering Society.

After graduating, I took on a role as a Homeless Recovery Worker at Two Saints, supporting young people facing homelessness in Southampton. I worked here for two years before accepting the role of Assistant Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner at Solent Mind, primarily supporting patients with online CBT. In 2024 I moved to the role of Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner – which involved part-time study back at The University of Southampton for a year before becoming a Qualified PWP. I have now completed this course and gained my qualification! As a qualified PWP, I assess patients and provide low-intensity CBT therapies (primarily over the phone) to individuals with common mental health difficulties, such as depression and various anxiety disorders.

After graduating in Film at the University of Southampton, I completed Sky’s Business Strategy scheme. Alongside this, I worked across the film production process on projects including The Crown and Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, giving me insight into the production side of the industry. I went on to build my career in product, initially working as an Associate Product Manager at Channel 4 before becoming a Product Manager at BFI Player. I am now focusing on building Film Finder, a film discovery platform. At university, I was a consultant at the African Caribbean Society and was an active member of the Film Society, Wessex Films Society, and Fish on Toast Society. These experiences allowed me to stay closely connected to both the film community and entreprenurial community at uni.

Since graduating in 2022, I have worked in both public facing and collections-based roles. I began as a Community Engagement Coordinator at Marble Hill (English Heritage) between September 2022 and October 2023, where I organised public outreach events and developed experience communicating with diverse audiences. In December 2023, I joined the British Museum as an Assistant Collections Manager, initially working on storage and move projects (decants) working with archaeological and ethnographic collections. I then moved to the Department of Africa, Oceania, and the Americas, where I supported the museum-wide Documentation and Digitisation Programme. I developed a passion for ensuring accessibility and discoverability for museum collections, and in July 2026 I joined the department of Money and Medals as an Imaging Assistant. I am therefore knowledgeable about various aspects of working in museums and heritage.

My academic journey has taken me across mathematics, biostatistics, and biomedical engineering, and I am currently engaged in research on MRI chemical exchange saturation transfer (CEST).
