On Tuesday 9 June 2015 at the Royal Academy of Engineering, London, we will be hosting a celebration of our excellence in Engineering. The event will also mark the inaugural lecture of Nick Jennings, Regius Professor.

Professor Jennings will be joined by a wealth of academics, business leaders and government advisors, such as Sir Mark Walport in a panel-led discussion.

As one of the UK’s leading institutions for engineering research, our pioneering, innovative work is solving some of the world’s most pressing practical problems, benefiting society and improving lives. The event will showcase our world-leading achievements in autonomous systems and artificial intelligence through an interactive exhibition, demonstrating the depth of our connections and exploring our knowledge and expertise.

The prestigious title of Regius Professorship was awarded to the University by HM The Queen to mark her Diamond Jubilee. A Regius Professorship is a rare privilege – before the recent awards, only two had been created in the past century. They reflect the exceptionally high quality of teaching and research at an institution; this is the only Regius Professorship to be awarded in computer science.
